Added a basic phone theme to the available templates.  Let me know if it works okay on your phone.

PROFILE > LOOK AND LAYOUT PREFS > CURRENT THEME > CHANGE > choose 'Phone' theme

Is that template reasonably ok on a phone?  It's just a stripped down theme, nothing specially tooled for phone layout.  I don't know for sure, but I think this older version of SMF does have some basic WAP/phone-sniffing ability, allowing it to reformat on the fly.  That's just a hunch.  Pretty sure the new SMF 2.0 -- which I'll upgrade to once it leaves beta -- has good support for phones.

It's just a theme with no images.

Pretty bland.  Reminds of when all sites were white with blue hyperlinks.  I switched back to this theme as I'm always on wifi on my phone anyway.

You listen to me, mister.  You'll eat that damn phone theme and thank me for it or it's BACK TO THE SHIRE FOR YOU!   Shocked

PROFILE > LOOK AND LAYOUT PREFS > CURRENT THEME > CHANGE > choose 'Phone' theme

Second phone-layout theme added:

PROFILE > LOOK AND LAYOUT PREFS > CURRENT THEME > CHANGE > choose 'Mobile' theme

This one is purpose designed so likely better than the first 'Phone' theme, which I hacked together myself.

Much better than the other phone theme.  The images aren't all displaying on the index page but otherwise it's nice and clean and simple.

Pitchpatch goes giddy and claps his hands in delight -- T&J grudgingly admitted he was happy.  THAT JUST HAPPENED.  T&J happy!  A day Pitchpatch dreamed might come but could never quite believe would.

But today is that day.  Oh joyous day!

BZZT-BZZT-BZZT drones Pitchpatch's inkjet printer.  Out slides the printout of T&J's topic reply.  Pitch delicately lifts it by the corners, floats it over to his desk where a sterling silver photo frame waits.  Obliviously biting his lip, he inserts the page under the polished glass.  Eases it forward, perfectly aligned -- taking all the care of an entomologist encasing the rarest of butterflies.

And it is done.

Over his desk it goes, slung proudly on the wall, high, wide and gleaming, forever a reminder of the day Pitchpatch received the validation he'd chased for a lifetime.  A simple "That'll do, pig.  That'll do," from T&J, the hardest-to-please sumbitch in all the four corners of the web.

Pitch leans back.  Admires the frame.  Drinks deeply of the moment.  There it is.  Right there on the wall.  The prize.  It smells like victory.  Victory and old tennis shoes.  But mostly victory.

A frown now.  Something on screen caught his eye.  New personal message on the forum.  It's from T&J!  Could this day get any better?

I still am not seeing where you see happy in that.

And now it looks like the buttons aren't working either.  I had to manually make that bold^^.

The emoticons don't insert for me either.  Maybe it's Safari.

Edit: Yep, not working in Firefox either.

Pitchpatch shuts off his computer and slumps his way to the closet.
The wood-panel doors creak open.
Oil those hinges, he reminds himself.  Or not.
His hand disappears inside and returns clutching a coil of thick rope.
Looped and knotted at one end.
"Hello, old friend..."
Now trudging away to find the stepladder.

MORAL: It's a trap!*
