Spec Script Sale: "The Watching Hour"

New Line buys horror spec "The Watching Hour" from writers Carey and Shane Van Dyke. Via Deadline:

    The spec's described as a home invasion film, only with aliens.

If the names of the writers sounds familiar, they are the grandsons of actor Dick Van Dyke. They are repped by Paradim.

By my count, this is the 29th spec script to sell this year.

The 29th spec script didn't sell in 2010 until June 25, so sales are up year-to-date.

Or to sum it up: Dead famous guys grand kids continue the Hollywood tradition of families eating up all the money and sell a script to New Line about aliens invading a house.  When asked for comment the Van Dyke's said they got the idea after the ghost of their dead grandfather visited them in their palatial Hollywood estate that was bought with their dead grandfather's left over money.
