Chernin Entertainment uses discretionary fund to pick up comedy spec script "Meet the New Boss" from writers Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. Per Deadline:
An employee of Capital Properties goes from one jerk of a boss to another, and the new supervisor is even worse because it's a robot.
By my count, that is the 20th spec script to sell in 2011.

The 20th spec script didn't sell in 2010 until April 29th, so sales are up year-to-date.

Note: This is the 11th spec script to be acquired in March.

This is what happens**:

There's a lazy best friend who, after listening to the guy complain about the machine, suggests hacking the computer and switching it off, this results in humans temporarily running the company, cue icy female executive (female to fulfill romantic interest role) sent by faceless corporation to oversee work whilst the computer's being fixed. Protagonist and another smug worker vie for exec's attention, we hate smug worker guy.

The exec is soon overwhelmed by seeing the rise in staff moral etc etc fires smug worker and embraces new relationship with our protagonist.

The couple work late one night to see how they can make it financially viable for 100% human workforce. The jilted smug worker guy sneaks in and reboots the machine, programming it to kill mode: he's the first victim.

The couple have to escape from the building as the machine hunts them down, (spoiler) one of them loses an appendage. Exec uses ironic welcoming gift (set up in act 1) to destroy machine. The End.

**Note: None of this happens.
