Mandate Pictures buys dramedy spec "The Last Drop" from writers Brandon Murphy & Phillip Murphy. Per THR:

    Mixing comedy and drama, Drop tells the story of a charming writer who is a fully functioning alcoholic by day, turned horribly dysfunctional by cocktail hour. While on assignment for The New Yorker, he meets the girl of his dreams, but soon discovers that there's a lot more at stake than love if he doesn't clean up his act.

The brother writing duo is repped by WME and Benderspink.

By my count, this 17th spec script to sell in 2011.

The 17th spec script didn't sell in 2010 until April 21, so spec sales are up year-to-date.

NOTE: This is the 6th spec script to sell this week and 8th in March.
